My Personal Introduction to Antidepressants, SSRI'S, Adverse Drug Reactions and Psychatrists
IN 1991 I was diagnosed by Infectious Disease Specialists with Chronic faituge Syndrome (CFS) better diagnosed years later as Myalgic Enceplopmetities (ME) In 1993 I had an adverse reaction to Doxepin, the first antidepressant I as ever put on for sleep, starting at 5mg, did not help so raised to 10mg. In several days my thinking greatly hampered and having trouble making sense communicating.
In 1994, I was diagnosed by a Infectious disease Specialist again with ME/CFS. She prescribed LUVOX at 50mg to 100mg/day to help bring down my over regulated Central Nervous System (CNS) and sensory overload. It wasn't long before I got some kind of psychosis one evening. I didn't hallucinate, I knew where I was. My state of mind was greatly heightened and I sat in front of the full length bedroom mirror all through the night with an empty gun in my hand pointed at the right temple of my head. I sat there and clicked the trigger of the gun over and over again all through the night into the daylight hours. There no bullets in the home for the gun. I couldn't even figure out how to get it open or where the safety latch was on it, it wasn't mine, and at this point was curious how it worked. My brain was so messed up I could not even open it.
It wasn't until 1996, when I was referred erroneously to a psychiatrist in private practice, but on staff at the Mt. Sinai Hospital, ( again one of the worse mistakes of my life agreeing to go), CNS/Sensory overload problems inherit with ME/CFS that psychiatric drugging started again with years of adverse drug reactions, repeatedly misdiagnosed until repeatedly brain and body damaged. At first the neurological aspects were being focused upon, sent to a neurologist at the Mt. Sinai Hospital, the psychiatrist thinking temporal lobe epilepsy, telling me my ME/CFS was psychiatric and I was lazy and didn't wan to work, it was really only depression. The Neurologist, when told I had ME/CFS, i was told 'I don't have time for such things get out of my office" in a standing pose. I was refusing to take antidepressants and said the doses where too high, and because of the prior incidents. This was a female psychiatrist who said the PROZAC reaction was HYSTERIA, the LUVOX, the violent thoughts I had "WERE JUST THOUGHTS'. After several months she convinced me to go to the Mt. Sinai hospital again to the 9th floor Ward, a lock in, if voluntary you could come and go when you wanted for the most part, this was just for an interview, to have them admit me to get me on the antidepressants. I was refused, saying I was not suicidal.
Shortly after Zoloft came out at 25mg dosages instead of only the 50mg it had prior, and started down years of psychiatric drugging with a list of adverse reactions, many severe. In 2002 I voluntarily admitted myself I had gotten suicidal on Celexa, gone hypo-manic, and also life stressors, being ill so long, a corrupt landlord, barely able to run a tenants association. I was admitted to the same 9th floor ward at MT. Sinai Hospital I had been on in 1996 and refused help. Another huge mistake admitting myself anywhere. I was misdiagnosed again, the years of adverse reactions ignored or that I belonged to a sub-group of ME/CFS/FM survivors that are dose sensitive or intolerant to antidepressants as well as other medications depending on the individual. They again ignored me when I said I kept feeling something going off in my brain and the severe adverse reactions. I was told I was told "you are overly concerned with reactions to medications', the discrmination regarding ME/CFS was extreme,
I was misdiagnosed bipolar, sent to a pharmaceutical expert at the Western, who asked me hardly any questions about my adverse drug reaction history or my ME/CFS. The drugs given for the next three months, lithium, Lamictal, Valproic Acid, Tegretol, damaged every muscle and ligament in by body, my speech, ability to process information. It was kept off my medical records wheel chaired up to the psychiatrist at the Toronto East General Hosptial for near 3 months in a wheelchair pushed by volunteers, also left off the records and damaged 2 more times. He and my GP, all of them refused to hospitalize me including Sunnybrook where I was first taken (happened another 4 times there and abused badly) They had added psychiatric to my medical files, suicides were added, I have never actually done the act of trying to kill myself, ie. attempted suicide. The incident with the gun, I chose NOT to buy bullets and went to ER instead - ignored. Years of major depression on the drugs, and severe suicidal idealization caused from them were ignored.
A few years ago I came across a site called www.ssristories.com , I posted it on C2NN. With all the violence and murders happening related to antidepessants, particularily SSRI's, I began to have some understand of what happened. However, it wasn't until I saw the 1991 Prozac Hearings that it gave me enough courage to speak out myself openly, I had told people I knew.

This is a short introduction of psychiatric madness, including my own to put my faith in these people, who clearly do not know what they are doing or the drugs that do so much damage, mentally, and physically from big pharma they are pushing to support their falliable DSM. Lives ruined. The amount of permanent physical damage and neurological caused from these drugs is enormous and posts relating to same are forthcoming
